Your Privacy Matters

Privacy & Security

Trust starts with us protecting yours. Here is exactly how we handle your data, your identity, and your safety.

Our Privacy Principles

Six commitments we make to every CheckMate user.

End-to-End Encryption

All data — your ID documents, selfies, CheckMate IDs, and status logs — are encrypted in transit using TLS 1.3 and at rest using AES-256. Nobody can read your data without authorization, including our own staff.

We Never Sell Your Data

Your personal information is not a product. CheckMate does not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or third parties for commercial purposes. Period.

Private by Default

Your activity logs, status check history, and documents are private by default. You control who can find your CheckMate ID and what information is visible in search results.

Minimal Data Collection

We only collect what is needed to verify your identity and maintain your relationship status. No location tracking, no behavioral profiling, no unnecessary metadata.

Right to Deletion

You can request full deletion of your account and all associated data at any time. Within 30 days, your record is permanently erased from our servers, including backups.

GDPR-Aligned Policies

Our privacy policies are designed to meet or exceed GDPR standards regardless of where you are located. We believe strong privacy protections should be universal.

How We Handle Your ID Documents

Submitting government ID is a serious trust. Here is our exact process.

1

Encrypted Upload

Your ID photo and selfie are uploaded over a secure TLS-encrypted connection directly to isolated storage — not accessible from the public internet.

2

Admin-Only Access

Only verified CheckMate admin staff can access submitted documents. Access is logged, audited, and requires two-factor authentication.

3

Review & Approve

An admin manually reviews the submission for authenticity. If approved, the verification badge is applied and the document is archived.

4

Secure Archival

Documents are retained in encrypted storage for fraud prevention. They are not viewable by other users, your partner, or external services.

5

Deletion on Request

Submit an account deletion request and all documents — including archived copies — are permanently deleted within 30 days.

Status Check Privacy

When someone checks your CheckMate ID, here is exactly what they see and what is logged:

What they can see

Your relationship status

Whether you are verified

"Linked Since" date (if linked)

Nothing else

What they cannot see

Your full name

Your phone number

Your ID documents

Who else checked your status

Accountability Note

Every status check is logged with the checker's ID and timestamp. You will be notified when your ID is checked. Misuse of the status check feature may result in account suspension.
